Visiting GEH
As City East Alliance works to upgrade the Great Eastern Highway, two lanes of traffic will be kept open in each direction from 5am until 7pm weekdays and from 8am until 7pm on weekends.
Orange and white plastic barriers along the highway are part of necessary work safety provisions, and have gaps at side roads and driveways. This means access to all properties along Great Eastern Highway is being maintained for the duration of the project and you can still access every business.
When driving along Great Eastern Highway please take care and follow the signs in place – including those directing temporary alternative routes.
If you’d like an update on the work nearby a particular business you plan to visit please feel free to contact us for details at any time. Also keep your eye out for signage indicating the property addresses between signalised intersections – these will help guide you whilst the area looks different.
Brochures detailing changes at the major GEH intersections can be found here. These will also be useful in planning your journey.
City East Alliance is regularly monitoring travel time and endeavours to minimise disruption to your journey throughout construction. Since starting construction, the average travel time between Kooyong Road and Tonkin Highway has barely changed.
