Sustainability

With increasing community awareness on environmental change and the depletion of natural resources, it is essential that Government departments and major organisations deliver projects in a sustainable manner.

This is a key objective for City East Alliance, with an entire Key Result Area (KRA) and team dedicated to sustainability. Our aim is to go above and beyond in compliance in the areas of environment and sustainability.

To achieve this objective, the Alliance will continually seek breakthrough and innovative solutions with regard to the design, construction and management of the project.

The Alliance has developed a hierarchy of sustainability construction essentials, which provides guidance for decision making on materials and other products.

The hierarchy is below and the Alliance aims to work “above the line”:

Above the Line

The Alliance also aims to promote a culture of innovation and best practice and has held a number of stakeholder and project team workshops to assist in developing a sustainability strategy.

A number of practical initiatives have been identified including:

  • Conserving water and fuel
  • Using recycled alternatives, for example, crushed concrete
  • Involving the community
  • Leaving a positive legacy

The wider strategy is still being developed, however, further information will be available shortly.
