City East Alliance (CEA) received Government approval to proceed with work on-site on 13 June 2011. To commemorate this project milestone, a ground breaking ceremony was held on Saturday, 25 June 2011.
The Alliance’s initial focus was on site establishment works, including barrier, lighting and fencing installation, service relocation and clearing within the road reserve. These enabling works pave the way for major construction, which is scheduled to commence at the Kooyong Road end of the project site around September 2011.
CEA has developed the most efficient construction methodology to ensure the highway is opened as early as possible, which is currently expected to be around December 2013.
