Ultimate Access
City East Alliance will manage strategic access to businesses and residences with guidance from a Strategic Access Policy Plan, which aims to guarantee motorists, pedestrians and cyclists travel along Great Eastern Highway safely and efficiently, both now and in the future.
The Plan looks at consolidating access, balancing the competing needs of regional and local traffic and determining the best direct access points to the highway.
The initial draft of the Policy Plan was prepared in 1997/98 in consultation with the community and under the direction of a Steering Committee chaired by the City of Belmont.
The Plan was re-presented to residents and the business community for their input late last year via a series of community consultation sessions. The workshops were held over four nights and featured representation from all areas of the affected community on Great Eastern Highway.
Comments from the workshop were considered during the project’s detailed design, with each suggestion reviewed in respect to safety, feasibility and traffic flow.
