Accommodation (Tie-In) Works
A dedicated Accommodation Works team has held detailed discussions with each of the affected properties along Great Eastern Highway to understand the needs of businesses and residents, provide feedback into construction methodology and clarify the scope of works required to facilitate the highway widening.
The meetings addressed issues such as the impact on driveway crossovers, signage, retaining or boundary walls, fencing, reticulation and landscaping. An issue common to most properties was understanding the practicalities of maintaining access during the various construction phases.
Individual design plans have been created for around half of the directly adjacent properties that front the highway in order to adequately scope the tie-in works, and where necessary obtain local government approvals.
In our discussions with the owners, particularly businesses, the Alliance has endeavoured to support the long-term planning intent and early implementation of the Strategic Access Policy Plan. These discussions have explored the opportunity to rationalise driveways onto the highway and create a secondary traffic flow system across adjacent properties and/or side roads.
